Surrounded

The sweetest moments of my life always occur when I am moving slowly enough to see and feel the breathtaking beauty that lies in plain sight.

But moving beyond the profound beauty and discovering the unique textures of life are the very ingredients that leave me in stunned silence.

For me, the textures of life are the very essence of our existence. Time and time again, I find myself feeling the sudden urge to stop. I know this feeling well and always surrender to it.

I stand in silence and search for what is calling me, where my attention needs to be, and I can guarantee that it is always the textures of life calling—beckoning me closer as if it has a secret to share.

These textures I love dearly affect all of my senses, transporting me to past events, moments that have paved a path towards an unknown future.

The texture of fresh-cut grass reminds me of summer days lived free in the moment. The texture of an old song lets my mind wander to lost love. The texture of drizzle falling on a winter's coat floods me with the rainy memories of a London past.

The texture of a freshly cooked meal allows me to be home, no matter where I am. And the texture of this black sand beach, creating a mirrored path to a solitary mountain, hugged by approaching storm clouds, allows me to believe that there is a long life of adventure ahead.

The textures of life allow me to remember the journey I have lived fondly, yet fill me with excitement as I look forward with a child-like innocence of what is still to come.
