In Search Of Nothing

IN SEARCH OF NOTHING.jpg

The first steps always seem to be taken in the dead of night. They are always filled with self-doubts, nervous energy and always accompanied by thoughts of what may be.

And so the search begins.

With every step taken, the external noise of our complicated existence begins to fade rhythmically. Replaced by the internal chatter that holds us to the very point we are attempting to escape—a constant reminder of what lies ahead, our fears, our hopes, our desires.

The search for nothing has begun, punctuated by the rise and fall of my heaving chest, the volcanic gravel that’s ever-moving underfoot, and the cool night breeze grazing my face, a constant reminder of an unseen destination.

These quiet moments seem incumbent with reflective thoughts that gently drift through the mind. As if reminding me of all I have done to experience this moment. For better or worse, a moment of my choosing, very similar to every other moment that has been and will be, etching the canvas of my life over time.

The sky begins to reveal a hypnotic hazy view, encouraging you forward like a quiet guide leading you towards hope. With every breath, every step, every instant of exertion, you are closer to a fleeting moment of your design.

Then in a heartbeat, all is forgotten. You surrender to the experience as a child-like excitement engulfs your existence, and before your eyes, it appears.

PURE NOTHING. An experience you desired, a sight of stunning untouched purity, accompanied by a deafening silence that is immersive and inclusive, gently reminding you of the simple potential of every new dawn.

A calming feeling flooded through me as I sat and witnessed the beauty of something beyond my control. Free from expectation, fear, regret. Full of the wonderment of all that can be.

The piercing existence of nothing. The fleeting moment of knowing. A subtle reminder that it is not about me; it is not about you; it is about us.

We all belong.
