Your Opinion
Your opinion is just that. A simple conclusion you have come to, based on your own experiences, be they good or bad. Your opinion is valuable, it is worthy, and it is genuine for you! It's an experience you have had, one of many that has left its fingerprints on your past; and just perhaps your future.
But in the end, your opinion is just your experience of a moment in time that will differ from others.
Two people can look at the same setting sun and experience entirely different views, which led to entirely different stories. Leading to completely different opinions and beliefs, but they are both true to the person that experienced them.
You may have been watching the same sunset, feeling the same warm breeze and hearing the same distant sounds of appreciation. But your current view of life is heavily influenced by your past experiences—every one of them helping to shape your unique view of reality.
The strength you gather from your experiences can be mighty. They can make you rise beyond what you ever thought possible, help you achieve your dreams and see the clear path through a complicated journey. But at the same time, the very same opinions can also become limiting.
Suppose you consciously or even subconsciously decide to dismiss others opinions and experiences; simply because they differ from your own and therefore can not be accurate. In that case, you are shutting yourself down to a world of learning and knowledge just because you need your experiences and opinions to be correct, to be justified, to be true.
And in essence, they are correct- correct for you!
To combat my opinion of what I believe to be accurate, I attempt to undertake all experiences from a fresh perspective, almost as if I am doing it for the first time. Helping me to ensure that I enter the moment with no opinion and no expectations impeding what I am there to learn. I try to live the moment with a clean slate and an open mind, which can lead me to all the possibilities I have yet to experience.
No matter how profound, how unique, or enlightening your experience is, it doesn't make you smarter, better, kinder, more spiritual, more giving, more knowing, and understanding. It just means you have had an experience that will more than likely become a new opinion.
Sometimes it's best to quietly enjoy these beautiful moments, knowing you have many more to come, knowing that the person standing beside you watching the same sunset is probably having a different experience that will lead to a different opinion.
