Walk The Rim
I have to remind myself that we are all unique and what I see, think and feel are mine and mine alone.
It is one of the many reasons I search and work hard to have experiences like this. In essence, it’s just another beautiful lonely landscape but that is just my opinion.
I arrived at the top of this extinct volcano to be greeted by a view that was nothing short of breathtaking. The sun was low, lighting up the ever dancing clouds above. It was simply one of those moments that made you stand in silence.
But like a child in a candy store, I found that nearly impossible. All I saw were stunning scenes asking me to explore, venture further and be rewarded for a little extra effort.
The voice inside me said, “be careful; you have been here before and found trouble.” But of course, I decided not to listen and trust my ability to walk the rim and experience everything it had to offer.
I underestimated the distance; it took hours, maybe because I stopped every few minutes to take another series of photographs. It just kept giving and I was not in the mood to say no.
In the end, three hours passed, countless images were captured and I found myself standing in the exact spot where I had begun, only to be presented with an entirely different view.
The world around me had changed but to truly appreciate it, I had to change my perspective.
