Yes You

I heard a saying the other day that piqued my interest.

At face value, it’s just another simple hashtag, designed to make the author feel liked.

‘There are no failures in life, just lessons.’

While this saying seems innocent enough, when you scratch the surface and dig a little deeper, you may just expose a monster lying in wait.

“There are no failures in life, just lessons.”

It’s a lovely thought, but for this to be true, then there can be no success either.

I try not to judge myself by this style of recycled, rotary-style positivity. Instead, I will sit happily in the middle, aware that success can be found in failure and failure also exists in success.

A balanced, level approach that can appreciate both the Ying and Yang, seeing the totality of any and every situation.

No matter what happened, there is only ever one question to ask yourself at the end of the day.

Did you do your best?

If the answer is yes, then failure and success cease to exist.
